In the 15th century Lisbon was the trading centre of the world. Vasco da Gama had discovered a sea route to India. Newly established colonies in Atlantic islands, the shores of Africa, the Americas and Asia brought Portugal immense wealth and prosperity.

Those days are over. Today, the stevedores have nothing to do but march in the streets.
